Dr. White is a 1988 graduate of Pacific University, where he earned both his Doctor of Optometry degree and a Bachelor of Science in Vision Science. Following extensive early training in ocular disease and primary eye care, he opened his private practice in the early 1990s—first in Eastsound and later in Friday Harbor—which eventually became part of the Vision Source network.

Throughout his career, Dr. White has been actively involved in many areas of the optometric profession. He is a strong advocate for scope-of-practice legislation and played a role in advancing the field by designing an early optometry-specific electronic health record system, helping usher in the paperless era of optometry.

In 2024, he received the Lifetime Commitment Award from the Orcas Island Lions Club in recognition of his years of dedication and service to the community.

A true Pacific Northwesterner at heart, Dr. White grew up in Port Angeles, Washington, attended school in Oregon, and has spent his career serving the communities of San Juan County. Much of his life has been centered around the water—whether fishing or sailing with his son, Jake, or competing in sailing events along the Pacific Coast. He and his wife, Lynda, enjoy camping with their dog, Dwight, and spending time with their daughter, Maddie, in Bellingham, Washington.
