Doctors & Staff
Dr. Chris White
Dr. White is a 1988 graduate of Pacific University, where he earned both his Doctor of Optometry degree and a Bachelor of Science in Vision Science. Following extensive early training in ocular disease and primary eye care, he opened his private practice in the early 1990s—first in Eastsound and later in Friday Harbor—which eventually became part of the Vision Source network.
Throughout his career, Dr. White has been actively involved in many areas of the optometric profession. He is a strong advocate for scope-of-practice legislation and played a role in advancing the field by designing an early optometry-specific electronic health record system, helping usher in the paperless era of optometry.
In 2024, he received the Lifetime Commitment Award from the Orcas Island Lions Club in recognition of his years of dedication and service to the community.
A true Pacific Northwesterner at heart, Dr. White grew up in Port Angeles, Washington, attended school in Oregon, and has spent his career serving the communities of San Juan County. Much of his life has been centered around the water—whether fishing or sailing with his son, Jake, or competing in sailing events along the Pacific Coast. He and his wife, Lynda, enjoy camping with their dog, Dwight, and spending time with their daughter, Maddie, in Bellingham, Washington.
Brianne Sandlin (Friday Harbor)
Brianne has been a valued member of Dr. White's team since 2020 and wears many hats in our Friday Harbor clinic including optical, administration, and pretesting. As our go-to expert for all things eyewear, she enjoys helping patients find the perfect frames and lenses to fit their lifestyle and visual needs. She especially loves introducing patients to our innovative Neurolenses and Transition Lenses. Brianne is always happy to answer questions and help you find the best solution for your vision.
Iris SableMoon (Friday Harbor)
Iris is our primary technician in the Friday Harbor clinic, where her calm, reassuring presence helps patients feel at ease throughout their visit. She performs a wide range of diagnostic testing with care and precision and is continually expanding her knowledge and clinical skills. Her enthusiasm for eye care and commitment to learning reflect her dedication to providing every patient with exceptional, personalized care.
Kandra Szubrowski (Friday Harbor)
Kandra operates our Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), Radiofrequency (RF), and Low-Level Light Therapy (LLLT) suite in our Friday Harbor clinic, taking the time to ensure each treatment is thorough and personalized. You'll also see Kandra assisting with diagnostic imaging and working alongside Dr. White as a medical scribe, helping every visit run smoothly while providing compassionate support to our patients.
Alexis Akers (Eastsound)
Alexis manages our Eastsound office, where she keeps everything running smoothly by coordinating scheduling, assisting with billing, and staying in close communication with our patients. She is also our Eastsound expert on the latest eyewear collections, including our newest Silhouette frames, and enjoys helping patients find styles that fit both their vision and personality. In addition to her front desk and optical responsibilities, Alexis plays an essential administrative role behind the scenes, helping ensure both of our offices operate efficiently every day.
Olivia Bonetti (Eastsound)
Olivia is our specialist in Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), Radiofrequency (RF), and Low-Level Light Therapy (LLLT) and works closely with Dr. White to coordinate treatment plans. As a skilled technician in our Eastsound clinic, she keeps busy clinic days running smoothly with her efficiency, attention to detail, and friendly approach, ensuring every patient receives exceptional care from start to finish. Olivia also assists with scheduling and patient communication to help keep the Eastsound office organized and running seamlessly.
